Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse feedback from others destroy his goal of being one of the best poker players on the planet.
Phil started playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching period and winning was not a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an undying love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
