Online poker has become globally acclaimed lately, with televised competitions and celebrity poker game events. Its universal appeal, though, stretches back in reality a bit further than its TV scores. Over the years many variants on the original poker game have been created, including a handful of games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely affiliated with vingt-et-un than old guard poker, in that the gamblers bet against the dealer rather than the other players. The winning hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is little concealment or different kinds of concealment. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up prior to the dealer announcing "No more wagers." At that point, both you and the bank and of course all of the different players attain five cards each. Once you have seen your hand and the dealer’s 1st card, you need to in turn make a call bet or accede. The call wager’s amount is akin to your beginning bet, indicating that the risks will have increased two fold. Bowing out means that your wager goes immediately to the bank. After the bet comes the face off. If the casino doesn’t have ace/king or greater, your wager is given back, with an amount in accordance with the initial bet. If the casino does have ace/king or greater, you win if your hand is greater than the dealer’s hand. The dealer pays out money even with your bet and fixed expectations on your call wager. These odds are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for two pairs
  • 3-1 for three of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • 20-1 for a four of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
