Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to make it to the final table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best players around the world. While competing in internet poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all in. I believe Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amount. I think television can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest players anywhere in the world could be players you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be found betting on online poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
