Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve last poker table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest bettors around the world. While competing in online poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. Gus often participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I know Gus is a great poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the min buy in.

Playing for the min takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amount. I believe tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world could be players you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be found competing in online poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in high stakes omaha high and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in cash rounds?
