Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only player to achieve closing game in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a big pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest gamblers in the world. While participating in net poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of $40, 000. Gus frequently buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all in. I know Hansen is an excellent poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amt.. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest players in the world might be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be found wagering on online poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in big stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in cash rounds?
