Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender on the planet by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative comments from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil started competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an undying passion for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
