Poker has become globally famous as of late, with televised competitions and celebrity poker game shows. The games universal appeal, though, stretches back in fact a bit farther than its television scores. Over the years numerous variants on the first poker game have been developed, including some games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely affiliated with chemin de fer than traditional poker, in that the gamblers bet against the casino rather than each other. The succeeding hands, are the long-standing poker hands. There is no bluffing or different types of concealment. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to pay up prior to the croupier announcing "No more wagers." At that point, both you and the bank and of course all of the other players acquire 5 cards each. Once you have observed your hand and the casino’s 1st card, you have to either make a call wager or give up. The call bet’s amount is akin to your beginning ante, indicating that the risks will have increased two fold. Giving Up means that your wager goes instantaneously to the house. After the wager comes the conclusion. If the casino does not have ace/king or greater, your wager is given back, including an amount on par with the original wager. If the house has a hand with ace/king or greater, you succeed if your hand is greater than the dealer’s hand. The house pays chips even with your initial bet and fixed odds on your call bet. These expectations are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for two pairs
  • three to one for three of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • twenty to one for a 4 of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
