Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve final table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest bettors anywhere in the world. While gambling on online poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. Gus often participates in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is broke, he has no reason to play at the table with the min buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the best players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full dollar value. I believe television can skew our view of the real world at times. The best poker players anywhere in the world could be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be found gambling on net poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes omaha high and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in money games?
