Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the globe by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse feedback from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
