Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to achieve closing game in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a big pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest bettors anywhere in the world. While gambling on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all in. I believe Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to play at the table with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amt.. I believe television can skew our perception of the real world at times. The best poker players anywhere in the world could be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be found gambling on web poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in big stakes omaha high and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in cash games?
