Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to achieve last game in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a big pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest bettors around the world. While participating in web poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I accept that Gus is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to play at the game with the min buy in.

Playing for the min takes a majority of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be one of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total dollar value. I believe tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might be guys you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be found playing internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly competes in big stakes omaha/8 and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in cash rounds?
