I have been betting poker now for about 5 years, I have bet cards my entire life beginning with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various types of Brag and basic random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so beautifully called, card on head game. I used to always win, whatever casino game we were wagering and although I liked to call it skill, it was really hard to justify thinking about the randomness of the games we were playing, so I was pleased to accept I was having a protracted run of luck.

Then came Poker, or additional importantly Holdem Poker, made famous by a bunch of Texas card players in the 60’s and since grown into one of the biggest card phenomena ever seen. Poker is totally the new black, it can be ultra awesome with many of the world’s leading superstars racing to have their name associated with it. Just a quick scan through the TV channels nowadays and it is possible to not escape from poker, and of course there is the fabled World Series of Poker, the Holy Grail and Mecca all combined into one for each single player.

So with all of this fresh found recognition, with so numerous Tv programmes devoted to poker, and magazine and book shelves filled up with quality material written by the leading minds on poker, when are men and women going to understand that this casino game is all about position!?

Perhaps I should not have so worked up about this, after all the more people who have difficulty with the subtle tactics and strategies required for succeeding regularly at Texas hold’em, the better it really is for everyone else, proper? I mean, if they can not be troubled to look at all of the obtainable details about why position is so critical, why should we bother? We ought to just be happy there is another fish at the table!

It is true, we ought to not encourage inactivity with guidance and support. On the other hand, I liken this to a friendly casino game of football. Granted the levels are not so superior, except when you notice a gambler struggling, you help them, provide them some advice, ultimately showing them a way to like, love and be thankful for the game as much as you. I’m asking all house players to do exactly the same thing with their poker friends who have not quite grasped the subtleties of playing position. Aid them to grow their respect for the casino game. Certainly, do not attempt to try this one in your nearby casino, the sharks won’t take pleasure in you instructing their lunch how to swim!
